Two of the seven lawsuits filed against Arizona over the immigration enforcement law SB 1070 have been dismissed by a federal judge. No standing to sue the state.
Those suits were filed by individuals, but the federal government stepped right up with two more lawsuits to keep the pressure on. One is a fishing expedition looking for anything fedzilla can find to discredit the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for doing the same law enforcement job as hundreds of other county and municipal agencies that enforce the letter of the federal immigration laws.
The other lawsuit is against the Maricopa County Community Colleges. The colleges had the gall to require new employees to provide proof of U.S. citizenship as a condition of being hired. Seems there are federal laws about illegal immigrants working in this country, but the feds don’t seem inclined to enforce those laws either. Federal funds to the community colleges are at risk.
Arizona is under attack from within and without our border with Mexico. Nogales police exchanged gunfire with smuggling cartel members on the American side of the border. No Americans were hurt, but this is a police department that has been threatened by Mexican smugglers. Gov. Brewer’s headless bodies in the desert claim may prove to be presentient instead of wrong.
The attack from within by the Obama Administration’s serial lawsuits on Arizona laws related to immigration are a needless waste of federal, state tax dollars and money donated to defend against the suits.
Allowing that other states support Arizona and counties and cities enforce immigration laws and are not targeted by the Obama administration, and that removing illegal immigrants would save the state and the federal government billions of dollars, why has Arizona been singled out?
For years Arizona’s right-to-work status has withstood union organizers’ efforts to change it. The unions are some of the strongest supporters Obama’s party has. They donate huge sums of money to campaigns, pack candidate appearances with supporters–they’ll even hire non-union workers to stage their protests.
It is payback time for the unions and Arizona is going to suffer the pain of the political deal making that put Obama in the White House. Arizona might hold out against the cartels on the border, but Arizonans must recognize who is behind the federal attack and the goal they seek to win this fight.
Pamela Geller, on American Thinker’s website, adds Obama’s transnationalist policies to the attack strategy.
